About This Training Course

With the recent change in legislation regarding RSA & RCG, paper certificates will no longer be issued and in some cases are no longer valid.

From 22 August 2011, students who complete an RSA or RCG course in NSW, will be issued with an interim certificate and will need to apply for a photo competency card from Australia Post. The new photo competency cards now replace the paper certificates previously issued and will be valid for a period of 5 (five) years. After this time the RSA/RCG holder will have to update their competency card by attending another RSA or RCG course.

Existing paper RSA and RCG certificates will still continue to be valid as evidence of competency except for those issued prior to 1 January 2001. Holders of these certificates who are still working need to complete the NEW RSA or RCG course and obtain their photo competency card by 30 June 2012.

Over the next few years, all paper based certificates will be phased out in stages meaning that an update is inevitable should you continue working in the industry.

Subjects Covered

The RCG course is a competency based program covering:

•Describe the context of gambling in NSW
•Explain the indicators and impact of problem gambling
•Outline and describes the legislative framework for responsible conduct of gambling
•Methods of implementing responsible conduct of gambling strategies
•Lists the benefits of implementing responsible conduct of gambling practices.

Training Course Outcomes

Participants that successfully undertake the course and complete the assessment will be entitled to a Statement of Attainment in “SITHGAM006A Provide Responsible Gambling Services” as part of SIT20207 Certificate II in Hospitality as well as the NSW Casino Liquor and Gaming Control Authority Responsible Conduct of Gambling PHOTO COMPETENCY CARD enabling candidates to apply for and work in positions at any NSW licensed venue.

Prerequisites

1 form of valid photo Identification is required to be shown on the day of course.

* Drivers Licence
* NSW RTA Photo ID Card
