Conduct pre-donning checks and tests on breathing apparatus by -
Inspecting breathing apparatus for use
Report/record faulty/damaged equipment

Operate breathing apparatus -
Identify, monitor and control hazards
Establish and maintain communications with appropriate personnel throughout the activity
Demonstrate effective application of breathing apparatus, undertaking activities as a member of a team
Implement entrapment procedures
Maintain personal safety at all times

Conclude Operations
Close down breathing apparatus
Remove breathing apparatus set
Undertake after use cleaning and maintenance of breathing apparatus
Make equipment ready for operational use"

"In accordance with AS/NZS 1715 it is essential that competence is demonstrated in the ability to:

Appropriately conduct pre-donning tests
Correctly don breathing apparatus
Operate breathing apparatus
Move in conditions of reduce visibility
Use breathing apparatus in emergency conditions
Follow organisational procedure
Correctly remove breathing apparatus
Return breathing apparatus to operational status

In all cases it is expected that practical assessment will be combined with targeted questioning to assess the underpinning kowledge and a theoretical assessment will be combined with appropriate practical/simulation or similar assessment."

Training Course Outcomes

At the successful completion of this Breathing Apparatus Course you will receive a Statement of Attainment and a small plastic wallet card indicating successfully completed competency.

Prerequisites

A reasonable level of English communication skills and a basic fitness level is required to complete the training.
