This Confined Space Training - Reassessment (excl BA) Nationally Recognised Training Course has been designed to comply with the requirement of two separate confined space competencies, one from the Resource and Infrastructure training package RIIOHS202A Enter and Work in a Confined Space and the other from the Water Industry training package NWP219A Work Safely in Confined Spaces. This offers choice to trainees about which of the competencies suit their work situation best. Either competency is a potential outcome from successfully completing the SafeTSolutions confined space course. Decide which suits you best during the registration process on the day of the course.
AS2865 is inscribed in the QLD WHS Regulations and forms the basis for regulation in all other states and territories.
This Confined Space Training - Reassessment (excl BA) Nationally Recognised Training Course reassess trainees to ability to comply with their legal obligations whilst checking their skills to do so. Where breathing apparatus is required to work in or rescue from confined spaces and to comply with the annual retraining requirements that exist for breathing apparatus use (AS/NZS 1715), trainees must attend an additional 4 hour breathing apparatus retraining course aiming to ensure their practical skills are adequate to use breathing apparatus safely.
The Confined Space Training - Reassessment (excl BA) Nationally Recognised Training Course is delivered over one eight hour day (7.45 am - 4.00 pm) and consists of modules covering Hazards, Legal obligations, Confined Space definition, Risk Assessment, Permits, Rescue, Confined Space Equipment including gas detectors.
At the end of the Confined Space Training - Reassessment (excl BA) Nationally Recognised Training Course trainees will be issued with a Statement of Attainment and a small plastic wallet card indicating successfully completed competency.
• A practical session covers preparation to enter a confined space, completing a permit to enter, entry to work and then a rescue following a simulated incident in the space as well as using and testing gas detectors. • Assessment of trainees is by way of a written exam and observation of classroom participation as well as the successful completion of the practical session.
A reasonable level of English communication skills and a basic fitness level is required to complete the training.
What is a confined space? confined space means an enclosed or partially enclosed space that—
(a) is at atmospheric pressure when anyone is in the space; and (b) is not intended or designed primarily as a workplace; and (c) could have restricted entry to, or exit from, the place; and (d) is, or is likely to be, entered by a person to work; and (e) at any time, contains, or is likely to contain, any of the following (i) an atmosphere that has potentially harmful levels of a contaminant; (ii) an atmosphere that does not have a safe oxygen level; (iii) anything that could cause engulfment.
