The Elevated Work Platform Workshop Course Training and Assessment will allow you to operate all kinds of elevated work platforms such as boom lifts, scissor lifts and knuckle booms below and ABOVE 11 meters.
This “All in One” Elevated Work Platform Workshop Course Training and Assessmentincludes the formal training and the COMPLETION of the logbook in accordance with the training plan during our elevating work platform workshops as well as the required assessments.
Our workshops have been purposely designed to enable course attendees to obtain the necessary workplace experience and to complete the required logbook in accordance with the training plan under supervisions of our experienced trainers.
The Workshops also provide the opportunity to cover any elements of the assessment instrument that are not part of the applicant’s day to day duties at the workplace.
NO ADDITIONAL LOGBOOK COMPLETION OR ANY FURTHER TRAINING IS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN THE LICENCE AFTER ATTENDING THIS COURSE.

This Elevated Work Platform Workshop Course Training and Assessment covers the following subjects:
Day 1 Formal training & theory assessment.
Day 2 Workshop plus completion of logbook & training plan and practical assessment.
With successful completion of this Elevated Work Platform Workshop Course Training and Assessment applicants will be able to:
To assess and secure equipment and the work area (routine checks, plan work etc)
Operate the elevating work platform (driving, elevation, protective equipment etc.)
Maintain the equipment (refueling, modification etc.)
COURSE TOPICS:
ELEMENT: Assess and secure equipment and work area
1.1.1 Routine pre-operational equipment checks are carried out in accordance with the checklist provided for the elevating work platform.
1.1.2 The service log book for the elevating work platform is checked to ensure all service requirements have been met and action taken as required.
1.1.3 Prior to operation, equipment and site area are visually checked for any evidence of damage, structural weakness or interference, and any faults reported to an authorised person for corrective action.
1.2.1 A workplace operations plan is developed in consultation with the relevant authorised workplace personnel. The plan takes into account job requirements, priorities, workplace rules and procedures, identified hazards and hazard control measures.
1.2.2 Site hazards are identified and correct hazard control strategies developed in accordance with the appropriate Australian Standard AS2550.
1.2.3 Plans for emergency procedures take into account the location of first aid and fire fighting equipment, amenities and access/egress points in the workplace.
1.2.4 Precautions are taken to accommodate the effects of weather conditions in accordance with the appropriate Australian Standard. This includes, where necessary, deciding to postpone operations where weather conditions exceed acceptable limits.
1.2.5 The operations plan ensures that the work area is correctly illuminated.
1.2.6 The load chart for the elevated work platform is located and information on permissible loads, radii and heights noted and taken into account in operational plans
1.3.1 The elevating work platform is started in accordance with equipment procedures and checks made for any abnormal noise or movement. Any abnormal operation is reported to an authorised person for corrective action.
1.3.2 The operating and emergency controls and safety devices are located and identified and their correct operation tested in accordance with prescribed procedures.
1.3.3 Defective controls and safety devices are reported to authorised personnel for corrective action and the defects entered into the service log book.
1.3.4 All equipment is checked. Defective equipment is identified and segregated and reported to an authorised person for disposal, repair and/or replacement
1.4.1 The elevating work platform is shut down using the correct sequence of procedures in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
1.4.2 Routine post-operational equipment checks are carried out in accordance with the checklist provided for the elevating work platform.
1.4.3 The elevating work platform is correctly stowed and secured in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and the appropriate Australian Standard.
ELEMENT: Operate elevating work platform
2.1.1 Work gear and tools are property stowed in the elevating work platform.
2.1.2 Emergency descent procedures are practiced in accordance with statutory requirements.
2.1.3 The weight of the load (personnel and equipment) is correctly estimated and taken into account in operational plans.
2.1.4 Elevation procedures are planned in consultation with other relevant personnel including appropriate hazard control strategies.
2.2.1 The planned procedures for operating the elevating work platform are carried out in accordance with workplace/manufacturer’s procedures.
2.2.2 Planned hazard control strategies are implemented.
2.2.3 Emergency procedures are carried out to deal with emergency situations
COURSE CONTENT:
ELEMENT: Set up and dismantle elevating work platform
3.1.1 A suitable firm and level standing is chosen and prepared for the location of the elevating work platform.
3.1.2 Outriggers and stabilisers are deployed and blocked up as required in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
3.1.3 Planned hazard control strategies are implemented.
3.2.1 The planned procedures for the dismantling of the elevating work platform carried out in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, and relevant parts of relevant statutory regulations.
3.2.2 The outriggers and stabilisers are secured and stowed in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
At the end of this Elevated Work Platform Workshop Course Training and Assessment applicant will be issued with a Statement of attainment and assessment summary for the Unit of Competency:
OHSCER235A - ELEVATING WORK PLATFORM (WP)
Both documents have to be logged in person with Australia Post in Queensland together with
a licence application. A processing fee of $72.00 is directly payable to Australia Post QLD.
Some operational experience is helpful for this course but not a pre-requisite.
The Elevated Work Platform Workshop Course Training and Assessment REQUIREMENTS AND WHAT TO BRING:
The minimum age for assessments is 18 years or over.
Photo ID*i.e. Queensland or Interstate Driver's Licence or Passport.
The Legislation required the applicant to have basic knowledge and understanding of the English language.
Work safety shoes (no thongs).
Participants will be required to have their own tool belt plus riggers tools when attending our scaffolding, intermediate and advanced rigging courses.
More Skills Australia will provide safety helmets, high visibility vest, whistles as well as the general training equipment, notes, logbook and training plans, calculators and pens.
TRAINING FACILITES:
All our public courses are conducted at our training facilities in Wacol (Brisbane).
Our training facilities are air-conditioned and fully purpose equipped and our students have direct access to all the necessary plant required for the relevant course i.e. Cranes, EWP, Forklifts and Scaffold.
ON-SITE AND GROUP BOOKINGS
We offer onsite training as well as group booking options at our training facilities in Wacol.
Onsite training and group bookings provide the advantage of being able to choose the course dates as it is suitable for you and your employees.
HOW TO FIND US:
Tile Street can easily be accessed in either direction from the Wacol / Boundary Road and Wacol/ Formation Street turn-offs on the Logan – Ipswich Freeway.
If you are coming via Ipswich Motorway (Centenary Highway) take the Wacol exit. Keep left on slip road and turn left into Progress Road; turn right at traffic light into Formation Street and left at the roundabout into Tiles Street.
We are able to arrange a pick up from Wacol train station for students travelling by public transport. Please contact us for further information.
PAYMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
More Skills Australia Pty Ltd accepts payment by EFTPOS, direct bank transfer and all major credit cards - Visa, MasterCard and Amex.
REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS:
The course fee is refunded less an administration fee of $30.00 if a cancellation is received a no later than three (3) working days before the course starts.
Cancellations can be made by email, fax or phone and will be confirmed by More Skills Australia Pty Ltd in an email prior to the commencement of the course.
Elevated Work Platform Workshop Course Training and Assessment participants can be substituted at any time and at no cost before prior to the commencement of the course should the nominated person be unable to attend.
No refund is applicable if the course has commenced and the participant doesn’t attend without cancelling.
In cases of severe hardship or if a medical condition prevents attendance, a refund may be available. For medical conditions a medical certificate stating he/she was unable to attend will be required.
The circumstances of any non-attendance will be reviewed by the Director of Training Services on a case-by-case basis, prior to any refund being granted.
