About This Training Course

To introduce the concepts of Optical Fibre Cabling Training Course (CPR Endorsement), understand the different forms of fibre optic cable, afford an understanding of the propagation of light through the fibre and to understand the various connection and splicing methods of optical fibre and where they are used in installations.

Training Course Outcomes

At the end of the Optical Fibre Cabling Training Course (CPR Endorsement) each delegate will be able to:
• Fully understand how light is propagated and how it is transmitted by optical fibre cable.
• Describe the light sources used for optical fibre transmission.
• Understand the various types of fibre and when each is used.
• Understand the construction of optical fibre cable.
• Be conversant with the various types of jointing and terminating of fibre cables.
• Identify the different types of fibres available.
• Perform a fusion splice in fibre.
• Install a mechanical splice in fibre.
• Install connectors on optical fibre ends in various methods available.
• Test a splice and interpret the results.
• Utilise the various types of test equipment.
• Demonstrate safety requirements when working with optical fibre.
