This Cable Hauling (Telstra Accredited) Training course is designed to provide staff with the necessary skills to prepare for hauling cable in accordance to Telstra requirements.

This Cable Hauling (Telstra Accredited) Training course covers the following subjects:

• Describe the Underground Network
• Read and Interpret Conduit and Cable Hauling Plans including Duct Occupancy
• Carry out Pre Hauling Requirements duct occupancy, sub ducting, individual haul distances, haul direction
• State Safety Procedures relating the various safety precautions to be implemented/considered
• List Criteria for Duct Selection
• List Communication Requirements
• Prepare for Hauling
• Maximum Hauling Speeds/Tensions
• Customer Lead in
• Environment –pumping out of pits/manholes
• Safe and correct preparation of ducts for hauling cables
• Correct positioning of cable hauling machinery and aids to reduce cable hauling tension, avoidance of cable damage and dangers to the public.
• Care of existing network, CATV, Lead Cable, Optical Fibre.
• Repositioning of plant moved during hauling eg in manholes
• Cable requirements at pits/manholes for setting up and jointing
• Effects of bends in route
• Cable mass, sizes, lengths and drum types
• Haul Distances eg LSFC
• Terrain – uphill/downhill
• Cable Hauling Lubricant – when to use, safe use, safety associated with use.
