About This Training Course

The focus of the 2 day Adobe Dreamweaver CS4/CS5 Advanced Training Course is on formatting and laying out your site using CSS instead of tables. It examines advanced design techniques such positioning and floating structural elements, CSS based navigation and creating rounded corners and faux columns.

Participants receive a Mastering CSS using Dreamweaver book as after course reference material.

This Adobe Dreamweaver CS4/CS5 Advanced Training Course will cover the following subjects:

Style Sheets - Advanced concepts
• The CSS Styles panel in detail, CSS Structure, Advanced CSS Selectors, Understanding the Cascade, Inheritance and Specificity, A detailed look at CSS properties and the best methods of setting values, Combining CSS properties to create advanced effects, Commenting CSS, Hand coding CSS in the coding interface.

CSS Layout
• Using the new CSS template pages, Using div and span to structure your page, Applying ID’s and classes with div and span. Understanding the CSS box model, Hacks to get around unruly browsers, Using absolute and relative positioning, Understanding floating elements, Clearing floats, Using floats to control page layout, Building structure and assigning IDs, Positioning container elements, Using Dreamweaver’s Browser Check feature.

Enhancing page elements
• Apply advanced styling to structured content, Creating faux columns with background graphics, Creating rounded corners with background graphics, Browser and search engine friendly CSS based navigation, Multilevel CSS navigation.

Create Output for Other Mediums
• Create a print style sheet, Techniques for creating web pages for mobile devices e.g. phones and PDAs, Using the Style Rendering Toolbar, Using Device Central.

Working with Forms

Building AJAX Pages with the Spry Framework
• Using Spry widgets, Understanding Spry widget structsets, Controlling Spry widget behaviours with JavaScript.
