About This Training Course

This Beginner Forklift Training Course - Villawood is designed for forklift drivers who do not currently hold a forklift licence, or who are needing to obtain their forklift ticket with little to no previous experience. Over the 3 to 4 days, applicants are taught how to perform safety checks and safely operate a forklift truck with the intention of obtaining their forklift ticket.

All Beginner Forklift Training Course - Villawood materials and the WorkCover accredited forklift assessment are included in the cost of this course.

The Licensing (Assessment Examination)

Assessment is broken into two parts: Theory (oral/written) & Practical (performance).

Part one: Knowledge Assessment

The assessment instrument can be found in the internet: www.workcover.nsw.gov.au/publications/LicensingRegistrationandNotification/Loadshifting/Forklift_truck

• The knowledge assessment has 52 questions. 30 are compulsory / critical (marked with an asterisk). You must get these questions correct.
• You will be asked 22 of the 67 non-critical questions. You must answer 75% of each unit correctly.
A full oral/written assessment can take up to 1.5 hours to complete.

• The Assessor will check your answers after you have finished. The Assessor may ask you to explain some answers again if s/he needs more information in your answer.

Part two: Performance Assessment

• The performance assessment comprises the following operating areas:


Unit 1: Conduct routine checks and plan work

• Conduct a routine check on your forklift truck BEFORE you use your forklift truck. At least 12 checks are demonstrated.
• Plan work you need to check / inspect the area BEFORE you start. At least 12 hazards are identified.
• Conduct PRE-OPERATIONAL start-up checks. At least 9 actions / checks are made.

Unit 2: Shift Load (applicant operates forklift truck)

• At least 24 of the following actions are carried out correctly.


Unit 3: Shut down equipment and secure site

• Shut down equipment.
- At least 4 of the actions are carried out correctly.
• Secure site.
- At least 6 things are demonstrated.

Training Log Book

• You must make an entry in the logbook every day you perform work as a trainee. You will need to produce this logbook to a certificate assessor, when you do the assessment.

Training Course Outcomes

At the end of this Beginner Forklift Training Course - Villawood , applicants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment (TDTD 1097B) Operate a Forklift. Forklift Licence

And an Interim Work Cover licence that allows the applicant to operate a forklift immediately.

Prerequisites

APPLICANTS MUST BE OVER 18 YEARS OF AGE.

What you MUST bring to the assessment:

A) Proof of your identity
B) You will need to bring a pen
C) Wear enclosed shoes (No thongs or sandals)

Work Cover NSW Forklift Course ID Requirements

An applicant is to provide documents of identity that add up to 100 points.

The combination of documents must show an example of your date of birth, current residential address, contain a photograph of yourself and a sample of your signature.

• Passport (current or expired within last 2 years, but not cancelled)
- Points: 70
• Australia Full Birth Certificate or Birth Card issued by Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
- Points: 70
• Australian Citizenship Certificate
- Points: 70

You may use a combination of Secondary Documentation

• Australian Driver’s Licence
- Points: 40

• NSW Photo Card (RTA Issued)
- Points: 25

• Motor vehicle registration or insurance documents
- Points: 25

• Dept. Veterans Affairs Card 25
• Centrelink Card 25
• Property (Council) rates notice 25
• Property lease agreement 25
• Home insurance papers 25
• A utility bill (e.g. water, electricity, gas) 25
Medicare card 25
** If you want to use credit and savings account cards, these must be from different banks.

Terms and Conditions:

• You need to book for the assessment at least 3 days in advance. If you fail to attend, the assessment will be cancelled.

•If you failed the assessment. Re-assessment can be arranged after 21 days and before 90 days from the first assessment.

•If you passed the assessment. The actual WorkCover licence fee is $65.00 (payable to Australia Post)

•No alcohol or drugs allowed on site.
•All costs quoted are subject to change without prior notice.

• Training and licensing will be in the same place.
• Transport: Leightonfield Station by train.
• Parking available on the premises.
